Palouse

Located along the Palouse River, the small city of Palouse in the southeast corner of Washington has the ambience of a rural farm community yet is only 20 minutes from Pullman and Washington State University. The Palouse region extends from rolling wheat fields to the foothills of the Bitterroot Mountains and is a favorite spot for photographers.

Visitors also enjoy paddling the Palouse River, birding and communing with nature on Kamiak Butte, digging for mammoth bones at the Palouse Discover Science Center in nearby Pullman and exploring the 208-mile Palouse Scenic Byway, which roams through the Palouse countryside.
